’501 Method Not Implemented’ error may occur when the firewall blocks any of your pages with scripting language.

This occured on one of my pages which included a script for a weather magnet.
To fix the error, it requires the server administrator to add an exception rule for ‘wp-admin/post.php’ in the firewall configuration.

Netgear wndr3700
This RangeMax™ Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router offers shared access to an external USB storage device (ReadyShare™) and ReadyDLNA— for streaming videos, photos, and music to a wide range of networked media players.
While the router performs well, the USB storage device sharing is not flawless. It is recommended not to share too many files and, if possible to disable the media server.

Best of breed software
Who said the best things in life come for free? They do, check out my favourite FREEWARE list.
The list is built of applications and tools that I am using or I have deployed. While many alternatives may exist, these are the ones that do the job for me.
There is no such thing as a free lunch, so you will need to tolerate some advertising or constraints in functionality. If you are willing to ‘pay that price’, you have a good deal.

The Squeezebox Radio can playback MP3, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, Apple Lossless audio. Built into the Squeezebox Radio is an 802.11G antenna which supports WPA Personal, WPA2-AES, and 64/128-bit WEP encryption. However, your wi-fi connection must have the SSID broadcast enabled. Alternatively, you can connect through the Ethernet connection, which is a 10/100 Mbps version.
Like the Squeezebox Classic, you can control this device through a web interface over the Internet.

Netbios Security
In Windows XP, you can secure your files from the Internet and disable Netbios over IP in the TCP/IP protocol settings (Advanced options). Windows uses the NetBIOS protocol to share files and print services over your home LAN. By default, NetBIOS is routed over TCP/IP and as such creates a security vulnerability on your PC. Check your TCP/IP protocol bindings and disable file and printer sharing. In the advanced TCP/IP settings, under the WINS tab, disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
Install IPX/SPX. IPX/SPX is not installed by default. If you need to share files and printers, then install Novell’s IPX/SPX powerfull protocols. In the Network Connection’s Properties, choose Install and Protocol: NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS.
Make sure the network bindings are adjusted. This you can modify with the Network Connections Advanced Menu Option ‘Advanced Settings’ in the ‘Adapters and Bindings‘ tags. Under the Start menu, select ‘Network Connections’. In the Network Connections window, select ‘Advanced’ from the top menu. In the pull-down menu, go to ‘Advanced Settings’. The Advanced Settings show the ‘Adapters and Bindings’ with the enabled bindings for each Connection. Make sure only NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS is enabled (see Dutch example below):

Switch a Belgacom b-box2 into bridge mode
These instructions apply to a b-box2 with the firmware listed below:

Follow these steps to switch a Belgacom b-box router into bridge mode:
Connect to the router and logon to the Admin interface .
Before changing any of the b-box settings, make a backup:
Choose in ‘Admin Settings’: ‘Backup & Update’

Before you proceed with the changes, be aware of the following impact:
After you have applied the changes below, the b-box2 router will behave as an adsl-modem only, it will not provide IP-addresses and will not logon to the ISP, these functions will need to be provided by the router that you attached to the b-box2 ; services for Belgacom TV however, will continue to be provided through the b-box2.
To proceed with the changes, you can follow the steps below:
Select Advanced Settings, ‘Network Interfaces’ in the Menu

A list of the configured Network Interfaces will be shown; select ’WAN PPPoE’

Select Disable from the button on the right
Once the b-box2 has disabled the Network Interface you will receive a screen with the new configuration:

Your b-box2 is now in bridge mode.
All credentials for the PPPoE connection (username and password) will have to be configered in the router that you connect behind the b-box2 modem.

iTunes 9 may not start after a clean install and display the error “Apple Application Support was not found”.
This module can be separately installed.
Download the latest iTunes version.
Use a file decompression programme (such as winzip or winrar) to extract the module from ‘iTunesSetup.exe’.
Copy the file ‘AppleApplicationSupport.msi’ on your local drive and run it. Once the installation is succesfully completed, iTunes should work.
Related articles on installation files can be found on the Apple Support Pages
